Understanding Data Sharing: How Our Partners Extend Your Reach

This article helps you understand which other apps and services use the location data shared by our direct partners, like Apple Maps, Bing, Google, Foursquare, HERE, and TomTom. When you manage your information through PinMeTo with these key platforms, that data doesn't just stay there – it often flows to other services people use every day. We'll explain this data flow partner by partner, showing how keeping your info accurate helps it appear correctly across a wide range of applications.

Please note that the specific data shared and how these third-party apps use it can vary based on their agreements with our partners and individual user settings.

Apple's services, particularly Apple Maps and Location Services, share location data with many third-party apps to improve their features and provide a better user experience. Examples of apps that may benefit from this data include:
Uber, Lyft, Moovit, Citymapper, Bolt, Gojek, TomTom (CarPlay), Waze (CarPlay), Here WeGo (CarPlay), Expedia, TripAdvisor, Booking.com, Airbnb, Kayak, HotelTonight, DoorDash, Grubhub, Uber Eats, Postmates, Zomato, OpenTable, Siri, Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, WhatsApp, Instacart, Walmart, Target, Best Buy, ClassPass, Mindbody, Strava, Zillow, Redfin, Realtor.com, Eventbrite, Meetup, TimeOut, Yelp, Foursquare, Nextdoor, FedEx, DHL, UPS.

Bing Places for Business provides location data that powers various Microsoft services and other third-party apps and websites. Examples known to use Bing Places data include:
Microsoft-owned services like Bing Search, Microsoft Maps, Cortana, LinkedIn, and Microsoft Advertising. Search engines and assistants such as Amazon Alexa, Yahoo Search, and DuckDuckGo. Navigation and mapping apps like Sygic, HERE, Telenav, and TomTom. Numerous Energy & Electric Vehicle Charging Providers (e.g., Elton, Eneco, EVBox, Tesla, Vattenfall). Car sharing services like Journeyz. Additionally, any website or app embedding Bing Maps will display business listings from Bing Places.

Google's services, especially Google Maps and the Google Places API, provide location data used by a huge number of third-party apps. Examples include:
Waze, Uber, Lyft, Citymapper, Moovit, Expedia, Booking.com, TripAdvisor, Kayak, Skyscanner, Airbnb, Uber Eats, DoorDash, Grubhub, Postmates, Zomato, Deliveroo, OpenTable, Instacart, GoPuff, Shipt, various retail store apps (e.g., Walmart, Costco), Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, Samsung Bixby, Apple Siri, Instagram, Snapchat, ClassPass, Mindbody, Zocdoc, Zillow, Redfin, Realtor.com, Eventbrite, Meetup, TimeOut, Yelp, Foursquare, Nextdoor, Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho CRM, Power BI, Strava, Turo, Getaround. Google provides users with controls over their Location History and other location settings.

Foursquare specializes in location data, providing Points of Interest (POI) information that many other apps and services use. Apps that may use Foursquare data include:
Uber, Apple (likely for Apple Maps), Microsoft (likely for Bing Maps), Twitter, Snapchat, Spotify, Samsung, Airbnb.

HERE Technologies is a major provider of mapping and location data used by a wide range of applications. Examples include:
Automotive navigation systems in brands like Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Ford, Toyota, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Volvo. Ride-hailing and mobility apps such as Grab, Uber, Lyft, Via. Navigation and public transit apps like Waze, Moovit, and Transit App. EV navigation and charging apps like EV Navigation and ChargePoint. Logistics services such as UPS, DHL, and Delivery Hero. Enterprise solutions from Oracle Logistics, SAP Transportation Management, Teletrac Navman, and Geotab. Travel platforms like Booking.com, Expedia, Skyscanner, TripAdvisor, and Instacart. Technology platforms like Huawei / Petal Search. Ride-hailing services like Uber. Enterprise solutions from SAP, PTV Group, Fleet Complete, and Bridgestone Mobility Solutions (Webfleet). Travel platforms like TripAdvisor (in certain regions).

The Overture Maps Foundation is a collaborative effort (founded by Amazon Web Services, Meta, Microsoft, and TomTom) aimed at creating and sharing open map data. This is a key difference from some other map data providers.
Because Overture Maps provides open datasets, there isn't an official comprehensive list actively maintained by Overture that details every single third-party app or company that "collects" or "uses" this data in the same way a proprietary data provider might list its licensees. Once Overture releases data, developers and companies are generally free to download and incorporate it into their products and services according to Overture's open data license terms.
