Section 1: Key Benefits of Connecting

Brand Control & Customer Experience: A proper location structure protects your brand by preventing unofficial pages and ensuring brand consistency across all locations. More importantly, it makes for an optimal experience if any of your customers are searching for information on your business or specific stores. Quick answers can make all the difference in the buying journey.

Local Engagement: Facebook isn't just a social network; it's a massive local search engine. Facebook users visit local business page way more often than we might expect, and many use it to discover new products. A location structure ensures your closest store shows up in their "near me" search and allows you to run hyper-local ads (e.g., targeting a radius around one store) to drive actual foot traffic from people who can physically visit that specific location.

Social Reputation: Being present, staying active and quickly engaging keeps you top of mind and solidifies a strong reputation. Just because you aren't active on Facebook, doesn't mean your customers aren't.

Section 2: Setting Up & General

This section covers the foundational steps to connect and structure your Facebook pages.

Part 1: Before You Begin (Prerequisites)

Before you start, you should

  1. Have a Meta Business Manager account.
  2. Be a direct admin of the main brand page and the location structure.

Part 2: Understanding the Facebook Location Structure

Facebook's Location Structure allows you to connect and manage all your physical store pages under your main brand page. To learn how it works and the differences in Facebook setup (Individual Pages, Brand Page + Location Pages, and Global page Setup), read our Blog article πŸ”—.

Why should you have a location structure setup?

  • Customers find your business faster: Facebook Locations lets you list and manage all of your locations on Facebook so that everyone can find you in Facebook search, or when they land on your main business Page. This is especially important for being visible to people who use their mobile phones to find information on-the-go.
  • Power local ads: Locally-relevant messages show customers that you’re part of the community. Create awareness ads featuring your address, phone number, website, and more.
  • Manage all your locations together: Using the Store Locations dashboard, you can efficiently view and manage all of your shops.
  • Control your brand: A proper location structure protects your brand by preventing unofficial pages – which you don’t manage, and whose branding might not follow your guidelines – from being created in locations you’ve claimed. This also makes sure that your URL and branding is consistent.

Part 3: Add Your Locations to the Structure

If you have existing Facebook pages for your locations, you must add them to the Location Structure in your Meta Business Manager.

  • On your own: You must add a store in your Meta Business Suite settings. You can learn more in the Meta Business Help Center πŸ”—.
  • With us: We can work together with you to assist you through the process.

Important: Ensure the Store ID for the page in Facebook matches the location's ID in PinMeTo. This allows our system to connect them automatically. Learn more about StoreIDs in our Listings guide.

Part 4: How the Connection Works

  • Connection Type: This is a two-way, direct API connection. PinMeTo pushes data to Facebook as soon as changes are made, and we can verify what data is live on the network.
  • Update Frequency: Changes made in PinMeTo are typically reflected on Facebook within a few minutes.

Read below about connecting a Facebook Page that is not part of your location structure to our Posts product.

Section 3: Social

This section covers what you can do to engage with your customers on Facebook.

Posting

You can manage your organic post content using our Posts Tool.

  • Organic Posts: Post to one or multiple Facebook pages, including your brand page, at once. We support all types of Facebook posts. We do not provide support for paid ad campaigns or boosting posts.
  • Import: Import posts that were created and published on the network itself. This allows you to get an overview of activity and see comprehensive insights.
  • Insights: Monitor overall activity and performance or break it down by location or filtered group of your choosing (e.g. all locations in one neighbourhood or city).

Connecting & Posting to Standalone Pages

In Posts, you can also connect Individual (standalone) Pages that aren't included in your Facebook location structure. This allows you to post content to those pages as well, providing greater flexibility for businesses with brand pages that operate independently of their location pages.

Take, for example, the made-up home goods retailer "Home Haven," with local stores in a Facebook location structure. They can now efficiently manage posts for both their store pages and their separate "Home Haven Decor" and "Home Haven DIY" inspiration pages using Posts.

  • To connect an additional page, go to Account Settings > Posts > Facebook.
  • After being prompted to log in to Facebook, you can choose to edit your previous settings where we recommend to opt into all current and future businesses as well as pages to prevent issues connecting new pages in the future.
  • After being redirected to PinMeTo, select any pages you would like to connect then click Save.

Because it is not connected to your Location Structure, you will not be able to utilize the functionality of our other products (for instance, you will not get comments on posts to that page in your Conversations inbox, nor can you change the Page information from Listings).

This is only relevant for customers using our Posts product. You can read more in our Posts guide.

This ownership allows you to control editing privileges of your links and other content, which prevents misuse of your domain and keeps bad actors from spreading misinformation.

By claiming ownership and verifying your domain on Facebook you can edit the information presented when posting a website link. With this you will be able to edit image, text and description.

  • To verify, you need to confirm your ownership trough your website either by DNS Verification, Meta Tags or the HTML File Upload. To do this you need to be able to access updating on your website. You can follow Facebook's developer step-by-step guide πŸ”— on how to do it.
  • After verification, you must connect those of your pages that should be able to post an edited link from this domain. In Meta Business Manager you need to connect both your brand page and all location pages individually.
  • To connect Pages, go to the verified domain and connected assets where you will find a list of your pages. Select all you would like to connect.

If you try to publish a post where you've edited a link (e.g. changed the image) and one, or all, of the Pages you are posting to do not have your domain verified, you will receive an error.

Each time you add a new page to Facebook you have to manually go in and add it to the verified domain to be able to post an edited link to that page.

Managing Comments & Messages

You can manage user interactions directly using our Conversations product.

  • Comments: Hide or delete comments - hiding a comment makes it visible only to the commenter and their friends.
  • Mentions & Tags: When a user tags your brand or location page in a post, it will appear in your Conversations Inbox, allowing you to like it or click through to comment.

FAQs

Q: Why can't I find my Facebook page when I search for it?

A: 9 out of 10 times, this happens because the page is new, and it takes time before it gets prioritised in the Facebook search. You will need to try to increase the page's activity and help the page appear higher in search by posting on the page, accumulating more likes, promoting it through ads, etc.

Q: How do I change my Page's name or username?

A: You can edit the Page Name and Username in your Facebook Page's Settings. A name change requires review by Facebook, while a username change is instant if the name is available.

Q: How do I merge two Facebook pages?

A: You can request to merge duplicate pages. If you'd like to do so yourself, please refer to this article on Facebook's Help Center πŸ”—. We can assist you in this process, but before we can proceed, we would need you to add one of PinMeTo's Onboarding Managers to be a direct admin of the page you want to keep and the page you want to delete. When merged, all check-ins and likes are combined, but all posts from the merged page are deleted.

Q: How do I get access to a page I don't own?

A: If an unofficial page for your business exists or a former employee controls your page, you can file an admin dispute with Facebook. This requires providing official documentation (like a business license) and a signed statement to prove your ownership. You can read more on this article on Facebook's Help Center πŸ”—.

Q: What should I do if my account is hacked?

A: Act quickly. Try to log in and change your password. If you can't, use Facebook's account recovery tools πŸ”—. The best prevention is to enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) on both your personal account and within Meta Business Manager for all admins.

Q: How do I give someone Admin access to Facebook's location structure?

A: This process is different from making someone an admin of one page. After logging into your Meta Business Suite, go to Business Settings > People and click Invite People, then enter their email address (must be the address associated with their Facebook account) and select Full control. On the next screen, assign them to your main location page structure and ensure you toggle the Full control option for that asset before sending the invitation.

Q: What specific location data is sent to Facebook?

A: To see which data fields are sent to each network, please refer to this section of our Listings guide.
